This is one of those pictures I look at and wonder about for this site. Is it appropriate or isn’t it? Is this picture about him, or her? Sometimes it’s hard to suss it out—even while acknowledging my own subjective biases. This is definitely sexy, but sadly so many other pictures reminiscent of this one don’t capture a man’s submission nor a woman’s dominance in ways that are positively represented, which is not unlike peeing in the pool of all the other images that would otherwise be at least decent if not for the prevalence of negative implications the other images espouse.
Ultimately, however, I posted this because I can’t think of what an image that shows a man giving oral sex to a woman when she is on top would look like if it were “about him,” and not her. Only solo masturbation is about one person, in the end, so despite the fact that she is center-frame in this image, I think its tone depicts him in a submissive enough way without any detriment to the value of his masculinity that it warranted being shown here.
Of course, I think a pair of really shiny handcuffs would have made for a much better photograph than a practically invisible strip of packing tape…but I suppose only my children’s children’s children will be able to ask for that and find that they get it. Or at least, that’s my hope and purpose behind writing these words.
